Landscape Design Services
Ann Uppington, an active Board member of NELDHA and a NOFA Certified Organic Land Care Professional, is a landscape designer
and horticulturist working in and around Boston in both commercial and residential settings.
Since joining the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in January 2007, she has been working on their Courtyard Garden, arranging and scheduling their Lecture Series, and conducting historical research.
Ann continues to do private consultations and her commitment to Ecological Landscaping is apparent throughout her projects. Using native plants, she works to assure that her gardens are interacting with the environment in a mutually beneficial and efficient way. This naturally sustainable landscape approach is based on Permanent Agriculture or Permaculture, whose founder was Australian designer, Bill Mollison. By utilizing and integrating stonework, native plantings, rainwater gardens, and pooling areas, she achieves year round beauty in her work.
Living on the North Shore, her work focuses on "four season"-"native plant" gardens that fit the individual's life style and maintenance requirements.
Born in Wales, she is a graduate of the landscape design
program of the Radcliffe Seminars now known as the Landscape Institute at the Arnold Arboretum. |

Ann's interests include organic gardening, the
structure of the winter garden, and the making of mazes.
In her design work, her wish for her clients
is to nurture the indefinable sense of the spirit of place,
called the 'genius loci' and create a garden they will
delight in. She uses photographs, visual images, sketches,
and models where appropriate and finalizes the plan on
the site.
Because Ann adapts to individual client needs, there is no garden too small for her design work. Even if you have special garden issues, you can
work together to create that special garden that can fit within your budget. |
